Assistant Professor Huang Chi-Hsiung of the Department of Fisheries Management highlighted the importance of teamwork, noting that a group of people can achieve far more than an individual. NKUST's multi-departmental team has invested significant resources in research and development. This year, they have organised 45 local aquatic product processing and equipment operators to establish the Taiwan Fishery Products Processing Alliance. The Alliance's primary focus is on developing technology for processing Taiwan's bulk farmed fish species, including golden eye bass, Taiwan sea bream and grouper. Huang Chih-hsiung stated that the objective of the 'Taiwan Fishery Products Processing Alliance' is to become self-sufficient and to provide support to the domestic industry, from fishermen to processors to distributors, as well as to serve the entire upstream, midstream and downstream industry chain partners.

The processing technology for domestic aquaculture fish species, including grouper, lice fish, napkin fish and golden eye perch, has traditionally relied on manual grading and packaging. This approach has resulted in a low meat extraction rate, poor efficiency, high cost and difficulty entering the market for nutritious lunches. Additionally, it has led to the formation of waste. The Department of Fisheries of the Ministry of Agriculture and Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology are working together to promote the automation of fishery product processing. They have developed a method of transforming fish bones and organs into canned food for pets, which they believe will capture the business opportunities of the hairy children market and create a zero-waste aquaculture market.
